How often do you find yourself in a situation where you cannot find the PC with the specifications that you require? And even if you find something that you like, how often is it within your budget? These are are common to most computer buyers when they are purchasing a personal computer for the first time. It is always a struggle between price and features. Of course, the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" is always true in this case. You often pay a premium for high quality products, and some even pay up to S$500 for service and warranty plans. All these extra costs are paid to ensure the user experience as little downtime as possible. But why should we pay when we can do it ourselves? That is what drives most of us to DIY (Do-It-Yourself) our own systems.

Having said that, it is still not a silly idea to purchase whole systems from well known brands like Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Compaq or Gateway (to name a few). If you have absolutely no idea on how to DIY, or the time and patience to build your own PC, it is still a good choice to purchase entire systems. They do offer good service and support. However, for those of us who feel adventurous, it would be a good idea to explore the possibility of building a PC by yourself. How does one actually do it? Well, we hope this article will be informative and simple enough to bring you through all the necessary steps to building your own 'low cost' PC. If you are willing to take the challenge, read on.
